October 2023: I was pleased to deliver another workshop at the annual School Counsellors’ conference. This time I did it with my friend and former colleague, the child and adolescent psychotherapist Catherine Burgess. Developing a paper by Phil Mollon, we focused on narcissism, and particularly how therapists (and school counsellors) may be susceptible to narcissistic injury.

October 2022: I was delighted to present a workshop at the annual School Counsellors conference. The workshop covered the Oedipus complex and its implications for understanding adolescent relationships.

November 2021: I was recently interviewed by Counselling Directory about the differences and similarities between psychotherapy an counselling. It’s available here: What is psychotherapy? A conversation with Dr Seth Osborne - Counselling Directory (counselling-directory.org.uk).

May 2021: I was pleased to see that The Sunday Times published my letter in response to what I thought was a poor article by Matthew Syed criticising therapy.

March 2021: I recently wrote an article for Counselling Directory. In it I try to say something about how the therapeutic process provides an experience in which we can work through some of our most difficult feelings. It’s available here: Working through difficult feelings in therapy - Counselling Directory (counselling-directory.org.uk)

March 2021: Often I’m asked for recommendations of other psychotherapists and counsellors. There are many good therapists in the area I would happily suggest depending on your circumstances, so please feel free to contact me, but three which immediately spring to mind are: Sanchia Barlow, Richard Gipps, and Katia Houghton.

August 2020: Some considerations for online sessions:

  • Think about where you’re going to be for your session. Ideally you’ll be somewhere that’s
private and comfortable. There may not be an ideal spot in your home, but consider what
provisions you feel able to make.

  • Consider which device you’re able to use. I think a laptop is preferable, or a tablet. A phone
can be used for video calling but might be less suited to this.

  • Consider where you want your device to be in relation to you. To recreate a similar feeling of
personal space in the session you may wish to position yourself further away from the
device than you would usually when video calling.

  • Ensure you are in a position where you have an adequate internet connection.

  • Headphones/earphones may help you to feel comfortable.

September 2019: I’m very pleased to have another book review published in the European Journal of Psychotherapy and Counselling, this time the latest offering from the wonderful Patrick Casement.

February 2019: Here is a link to a book review I wrote that was recently published in the European Journal of Psychotherapy and Counselling. The book I reviewed was Attachment in Therapeutic Practice, by Jeremy Holmes and Arietta Slade.
